Physician. Entrepreneur. Clinical researcher.
For over two decades, Dr. Adam Broncel has been working at the intersection of neurology and biomedical innovation, turning scientific discoveries into solutions that improve patientsโ€™ lives.
With a medical degree, a Ph.D. in neuromodulation, and international research experience in the USA and Europe, he has dedicated much of his career to exploring the power of vagus nerve stimulation. His research has been published in leading journals (Brain Research, PLOS, Neuroscience) and presented at major neurological congresses, from Helsinki to Amsterdam.
As an entrepreneur, he co-founded Biomed Innovation and Poland Ventures, building ecosystems that help international startups thrive. He has scaled ventures across borders, secured EU grants, and co-invented patents in neuromodulation. He also advises global initiatives and has represented Poland at MIT and other leading U.S. innovation hubs.
At Cogniguard, Dr. Adam Broncel serves as Chief Medical Officer and board member, leading our Polish branch. He designed and oversaw preclinical studies and the very first proof-of-concept trials of the Vguard method โ€” and is now spearheading upcoming multicenter clinical trials in Europe and the U.S. His role bridges science, clinical development, and investor engagement, all with a single purpose: to bring breakthrough therapies for Alzheimerโ€™s and cognitive decline to patients.
What motivates him most?
โ€œThe opportunity to turn scientific innovation into real solutions for devastating conditions like Alzheimerโ€™s. Knowing that our work can change patientsโ€™ lives gives me purpose every single day.โ€
One achievement heโ€™s especially proud of:
Leading the first human trials of the Vguard method, witnessing years of research come to life in patients, and seeing early signs of positive impact on memory and cognition.
Outside the lab and boardroom, Dr. Broncel finds balance through sports. He trains intensively in CrossFit and rides over 3,000 km of MTB trails every year, a challenge that keeps him both physically sharp and mentally energized.
For him, innovation is more than research โ€” itโ€™s about creating healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives.

At Cogniguard, Agnieszka serves as Chief Financial Officer, where she is responsible for financial strategy, CE certification, and implementation of the ISO 13485 quality management system โ€” ensuring that our innovations meet the highest global standards. In the early stages of Cogniguardโ€™s journey, she also acted as Project Manager, building the operational structure and coordinating the companyโ€™s first R&D activities.
Her career highlights include co-founding the EU-MED Summit, a conference dedicated to advancing medical technologies, and successfully securing significant EU funding for innovative medtech projects. Before transitioning fully into life sciences, Agnieszka also worked in the renewable energy sector, where she was involved in wind energy projects with Cerac Group. This multidisciplinary perspective allows her to connect ideas across industries and turn them into impactful innovation in medicine.
What motivates her most is combining purpose with structure: transforming complex medical and regulatory challenges into scalable solutions that have long-term social impact.

๐Ÿ”ฌWith nearly five decades dedicated to neuroscience, Prof. Jan Konopacki has shaped the field of neurobiology and neuropharmacology of brain oscillatory activity. Since earning his Ph.D. in 1981 and full professorship in 1998, he has supervised over 70 MSc theses, 8 PhD theses, and 4 habilitations, authored more than 100 scientific papers (PubMed: Jan Konopacki), and written the widely used academic handbook Physiology of Animals (2016).
For most of his career, Prof. Konopacki has been affiliated with the University of ลรณdลบ, where he also served as Head of the Department of Neurobiology. During his years at the University of Calgary in the late 1980s, he developed a pioneering in vitro technique for inducing and recording EEG theta oscillations in hippocampal slices โ€” a breakthrough that fundamentally changed how researchers study brain activity in vitro.
At Cogniguard, Prof. Konopacki designed the projectโ€™s preclinical studies on laboratory animals and now serves as a scientific consultant and adviser to Dr. Adam Broncel.
What excites him most is seeing how decades of preclinical neuroscience research can now directly contribute to clinical studies for patients with dementia and Alzheimerโ€™s disease.
His motivation? Curiosity and the belief that science should make a real difference in peopleโ€™s lives.
Outside of research, Prof. Konopacki is known for his easygoing personality, good sense of humor, and a rather unique hobby: collecting antique padlocks and keys. Today, in retirement, he enjoys life close to nature with his wife, while still sharing his expertise to push forward innovations in neuroscience.
We are honored to have Prof. Konopackiโ€™s knowledge, mentorship, and vision guiding Cogniguardโ€™s mission to bring new hope to patients worldwide.
